New Delhi: A hundred and fifty five thousand Indian kids tried drawing a logo or doodle for Google this year. The theme set by Google was 'India's gift to the world'. The drawings were screened by the JJ School of Art in Mumbai and finally put up for voting online. Artists who draw doodles for Google professionally were also called in to judge the logos made by the children.
Google Doodler Jennifer Hom said, "I helped judge the drawings with a few of my colleagues and frankly, we were all a little scared. These kids are so good, we might all lose our jobs sometime soon."
The winner of the competition is seven year old Varsha Gupta. A third standard student of Ryan International School in Greater Noida, her victory moved her stunned father to tears.
Varsha's father Hotilal Gupta said, "This is the best day of my life. I am so happy."
Google will use Varsha's drawing as its logo on November 14, Children's Day - showcasing her work to at least a hundred million Indians online. Varsha's won an expensive laptop as a prize and she's quite clever about how she's going to use it.
Varsha said, "When my father is in office i will give the laptop to my mother. When he comes back, I will give it to him."
