Google Doodle pays tribute to Mark Twain by depicting scenes from The Adventures of Tom Sawyer Mark Twain celebrated in a Google Doodle Google celebrates  Mark Twain 's 176th birthday today with its latest doodle, which depicts a famous scene from The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. The full-width illustration greeting web users logging on to the search engine portrays an episode in the novel in which the protagonist is made to whitewash a fence. Resembling a drawing from a children's story book, the picture appears to show Tom and his friend Ben at various stages of the paintwork job, with the 'e' and half the 'l' of "Google" subjected to their brush. Although the writer's 176th birthday may seem a somewhat arbitrary milestone to mark, he remains a towering figure in American literature whose works enjoy an enduring popularity today. Kingfisher shares crash as carrier seeks funds

Mumbai:  Shares in beleaguered Kingfisher Airlines slumped nearly 18 per cent on Friday as concerns heightened about the cash-strapped carrier's ability to raise funds to continue operations. The carrier, whose losses doubled in the September quarter due to high fuel costs, has cancelled scores of flights in recent weeks as it struggles to raise working capital. "The fresh infusion of capital in Kingfisher is still uncertain. There is nothing concrete coming from the company, except that flights still continue to be cancelled, and the market is reacting to that uncertainty," said KK Mital, chief executive for portfolio management services at Globe Capital. CNN-IBN The Financial Times reported Kingfisher Chairman Vijay Mallya said in an interview he was close to sealing a $ 370 million deal with an Indian private investor and a consortium of banks that would save the airline. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan gives birth to baby girl

Mumbai:  Actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has given birth to a baby girl, the first child for the former Miss World and her actor husband Abhishek Bachchan. The delivery took place at the Seven Hills Hospital in Marol, Mumbai. A proud grandfather, Amitabh tweeted on Wednesday morning, "I AM DADA to the cutest baby girl !!" Later in the day, an excited dad Abhishek said both mother and daughter were doing fine. "Thank you all for your prayers and good wishes.
